Novelty Acts

Dustin the Turkey (not to be confused with Dustin Hoffman) is Ireland's leading entertainer, model, singer, songwriter comedian, among other things. To date he has released three albums Dustin not just a pretty face, Dustin Unplucked and Faith of Our Feathers, all three albums have been #1 in the Irish charts as well as having #1 hit singles. At one point he even considered entering into the political arena with his party called Fianna Fowl, but decided he was too honest to be politician.

Zig and Zag come from the planet Zog and both have Zogabongs on their heads. They have a pet puppy called Zuppy, and one of their friends was Dustin the Turkey. They were a tremendous hit especially with college students, tens of thousands would regularly miss afternoon lectures just to watch them do their stuff. They have had #1 hit records too.

Richie Kavanagh is the writer of the song "Aon Focal file." The song was a huge hit in 1996 and spent 27 weeks in the charts and made it to #1 for 7 weeks. It won an IRMA Award and even managed to beat The Spice Girls.

National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland

Ceolfhoireann Shiansach Naisiunta
The National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland is one of the busiest international orchestras performing and recording today. Not only does the orchestra broadcast regularly on Lyric fm, RTE's classical music and arts radio station, it also plays a pivotal role in classical music throughout Ireland.

In addition to its subscription season, its Horizons contemporary music series (featuring the work of living Irish and international composers) and summer season, all in the National Concert Hall in Dublin, the orchestra undertakes national tours, residencies, and educational and community work, bringing first-dass music making to thousands of people throughout the length and breadth of Ireland.

The NSO is also making a name for itself around the world through its multidisc agreement with Naxos and Marco Polo, two of the world's largest classical music labels - the NSO is now one of the most extensively recorded orchestras in the world. It has earned high international praise for its complete Mendelssohn, Nielsen, Rakhmaninov and Malcolm Amold symphony cycles, Verdi's Aida, and works by Brahms, Bruckner, Mahler and Tchaikovsky.
