Fitzpatrick Hotel Group Dedicate Suites to Ireland's Most Talented Artists at Grand Central Property

The Fitzpatrick Hotel Group has dedicated eight of their newly renovated suites at Fitzpatrick Grand Central to some of Ireland's most talented artists who have made and continue to make enormous contributions to the world of the arts, literature and movies.

GABRIEL BYRNE Theater, television and movie actor. Famous for his roles in "Usual Suspects"; "Columbus"; and the ABC television series "Madigan Men."

ROMA DOWNET Renowned movie actor currently starring in the CBS television series "Touched By An Angel."

SEAMUS HEANEY An extraordinary poet and Nobel Laureate and was noted as "the most important Irish poet since Yeats." NOEL PEARSON Producer of theatre in both Europe and the United States for twenty years. He has won Tony Awards for "Dancing at Lughnasa" and "An Inspector Calls."

FRANK MCCOURT Limerick man, teacher, actor and author of the Pulitzer Prize winning book "Angela's Ashes."

MAEVE BINCHY Journalist and popular, highly successful writer of short stories such as "Circle of Friends," "Tara Road" and "The Lilac Bus."

PHIL COULTER Musician, entertainer and composer of song; such as "The Town I Loved So Well" and "My Boy." Also a producer of records for Van Morrison and Sinead O'Connor.

JIM SHERIDAN Accomplished director/ playwright of the Dublin and New York stage turned filmmaker. "My Left Foot," his feature film debut, was internationally acclaimed as was his more recent production "In The Name Of The Father.

"We are continuing that tradition by recognizing some of Ireland's most talented people who represent the immense, heart and inspiration that comes out of Ireland. They are truly Ireland's gift to the world." A polished brass plaque identifies each suite and copies of the honorees published works, CD's of their music and videos of their movies are kept for guest's enjoyment. At Fitzpatrick Grand Central all suites are furnished in traditional Irish fashion with canopied beds in elegant damask and jacquard, Navan carpeting, Waterford Crystal chandeliers and Irish linens and towels.

Other in-room amenities include internet access; a fax machine; data port for laptop computer and a cordless telephone with two lines and voicemail.

The Fitzpatrick Manhattan Hotel, the Group's first U.S. property, opened in 1992 and features 92 accommodations, over half of which are spacious suites, including six newly renovated Presidential Suites. Its sister property, Fitzpatrick Grand Central, opened its doors in 1998 and houses 155 rooms, with 11 suites, including The Liam Neeson Penthouse Suite, named after the famed Irish actor. Both the Fitzpatrick Manhattan and Fitzpatrick Grand Central Hotels are New York's only Irish-owned hotels.
